In a major boost for football in Pakistan, FIFA and the
Asian Football Confederation (AFC) have thrown their support behind the
Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Normalization Committee (NC) despite facing
opposition from the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC). The NC,
led by Haroon Malik, has been granted an extension until 15th March 2024,
following commendable progress in its duties.
Since its appointment in January 2021, the Normalization
Committee has effectively fulfilled its responsibilities, overcoming challenges
during the PFF's suspension. FIFA acknowledges the committee's efforts and will
closely monitor the advancements made in organizing elections in accordance
with the PFF Constitution.
To shape the future of football in Pakistan, FIFA has
proposed a high-level meeting in Dubai between 11th and 13th September 2023.
This crucial gathering will involve FIFA, AFC, the PFF Normalization Committee,
and government officials, fostering constructive dialogue and charting the path
forward for Pakistani football.
With FIFA and AFC's unwavering support, the PFF NC is all
set to propel football's development in Pakistan and pave the way for a bright
future. Stay tuned for updates as key stakeholders unite for this pivotal
moment in Pakistani football history!
