Norwich Takes the Crown as UK's Most Social Media-Obsessed City!




 

A recent study conducted by entertainment expert team PlayOJO has revealed the top ten most social media-obsessed cities in the UK, and the results are in! Norwich has claimed the number one spot, proving to be the city most hooked on social media.

The study analyzed Google searches for popular platforms like Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Twitter, YouTube, Snapchat, Pinterest, Reddit, and LinkedIn over the past year. With an astounding 215,000 searches per 100,000 residents, Norwich emerged as the clear winner, despite being a city of just over 143,000 people.

Hot on Norwich's heels, Wrexham secured the second position with over 209,000 searches per 100,000 among its 65,000 inhabitants, while Liverpool claimed third place with over 195,000 searches per 100,000 of its 484,000 residents. Bath and Manchester rounded out the top five, with 186,000 and 185,000 searches respectively.

On the flip side, the city least interested in social media turned out to be Wakefield, with a mere 14,000 searches per 100,000 people. Other cities like Winchester, Canterbury, Lancaster, and Doncaster also showed lower levels of social media engagement, tallying fewer than 70,000 searches per 100,000 residents.

Surprisingly, London, being the most populous city in the UK, ranked 25th on the list, with 131,000 searches per 100,000. Birmingham, with over 1.1 million residents, secured the ninth spot with 171,000 searches per 100,000 people.

The study delved further into platform preferences across different cities, revealing interesting insights. Blackpool emerged as a Facebook fan favorite, while Instagram dominated in Brighton. Residents of Cambridge were found to be avid LinkedIn and Reddit users.

Winchester turned out to be the go-to city for Pinterest, while Bradford took the lead for Snapchat and TikTok enthusiasts. Twitter users were most prominent in Glasgow, and Newport claimed the title of the most YouTube-obsessed city.

In the broader context, YouTube emerged as the most searched social media app in the UK, followed closely by Facebook and Twitter.

A PlayOJO spokesperson commented on the study, emphasizing how social media has become an integral part of our daily lives. It allows people to connect and interact with others worldwide at any time, and this dependence on social media apps is likely to continue growing.
